BECTU POST FEST

Post Fest is BECTU's second annual event for Post Production and VFX workers and takes place at 01-Zero One on Hopkins st, Soho, Central London.

It's a day to come together to learn, to discuss and to enjoy. Programmed by leading representatives of BECTU's Post Production and Facilities and VFX branches, the event will help the post-production community to connect and to celebrate the contribution of Post and VFX to the British Film and TV Industries.

Come alone, or in a group, you'll be in good company. Whether you're just starting out, or more experienced, our mix of topical masterclasses, panel discussions and a brilliant social to close the day will deliver real benefit to you.

 Artificial Intelligence: Demise of VFX or its new BEST FRIEND?

This panel will explore the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and VFX. With ever changing sophisticated technologies being developed and introduced across the TV and Film industries, our panel will discuss whether A.I. will be the beginning of the end for VFX as we know it, or will it be its new best friend?

  • Ivana Barlotetti - Ivana is a Privacy and Data Protection professional, Co-Founder of the Women Leading in AI Network & regularly writes and features in the media, commenting on privacy, data ethics and innovation

  • Ian Murphy - Ian has over 13 years delivering VFX for feature films and in the design and facilitation of industry led training courses. He’s worked with companies such as Double Negative, Cinesite, Rushes and Passion Pictures, whilst also delivering courses for the NFTS, Escape Studios and Atomic Fiction in the US

  • Marcus Ottosson - Marcus worked for 13 years in VFX as an Animator, Software Developer and Entrepreneur, having formed one company in AI via physics simulation and space-time optimisation

  • Ricardo Musch - Compositing Supervisor and BECTU VFX Branch Secretary. Ricardo’s credits include Avengers Infinity War & Endgame, Jungle Book and X-Men: Apocalypse

  • Inigo Manby - A UK-based first assistant editor working in feature film, with live on-set editorial experience, Inigo is familiar with the impact of Artificial Intelligence on post-production and recognises its limitations

Edit Collective presents: ‘Fighting to Flourish’: A round table discussion on cultivating an ethical workplace culture

  • Harley Yeung Kurylowski - Award winning director, editor, member of Edit Collective BFI Flare mentee alumni, and programmer-organiser of queer film events, based in London.

  • Riaz Meer is a Grierson award winning, and BAFTA nominated producer and film editor. Riaz has over 20 years’ experience working on Feature Films, Television Drama and Documentary.

  • Katherine Janes is an Award winning Editor and Edit Collective co-founder with Agathe Barbier. Edit Collective is a London based collective and support network for female, non-binary and trans identifying, editors working in Film and TV.

  • Nia Hughes is the BECTU Post Production Organiser and co-developer of Post Fest.
