Joe Pavlo, Callum Macmillan & Helen Baranova

Performance capture turned into CG creatures like Caesar in Planet of the Apes, Thanos in Infinity War or the digital humans in Rogue One and Blade Runner 2049 have given rise to a debate as to who’s really doing the heavy lifting - the actors or the animators?

Joe Pavlo, Callum Macmillan of Dimensions Studio, Helen Baranova & 3D Animator Christopher Anthony will be on hand to discuss this controversial topic, with a short virtual reality presentation by Steve Jelley of HammerHead VR.

Join Sprocket Rocket Soho founder Mick Audsley as moderator talking to Mike Prestwood Smith and James Mather. They will explore the complexities of the relationship that audio has on our perception of the visual, and conversely are not necessarily the same thing, the impact of the visual on the audio.

Andrew Ryan & David Watkins demonstrate how the SFX department can augment the process from a digital idea to a physical moving motion controlled rig.

Andrew and David will also invite some people to use our SixAxis motion controlled platform and playback the move they have just performed.

Throughout the day, our CV advisor Beverley Hills will be delivering CV advice sessions in 15 minute slots. If there are no spaces available when you book your place, do apply to be on the waiting list.

Timed CV advice slots will be allocated on the day so arrive early to secure a slot that fits your plans. Please bring two hard copies of your CV with you.
